LIVE Bald Eagle Cam

Muskegon Bald Eagles – A pair of bald eagles joined the Alcoa Davenport community in Iowa in 2009. They built their 7-foot nest on our 400-acre facility in a tree near the Mississippi River. In the spring of 2010 they fledged a pair of eaglets and later that year we installed our first LIVE Bald Eagle Cam. We recently launched a new camera with improved video streaming. Employees and the community helped name the eagle pair Liberty and Justice. In April 2011, an online poll named the single eaglet they fledged this year “Freedom”.

Wow! A LIVE Bald Eagle Cam! How exciting!

LIVE Bald Eagle CamSo far in 2012, more than 2.25 million visitors from across the globe have tuned in to witness the LIVE Bald Eagle Cam, an American icon, the bald eagle, developing live within this unique eco-system. In the fall and winter the eagles use the nest to eat and prepare the nest for the next season. Eagles nesting in Iowa typically lay eggs in late February or early March and the eggs hatch in late March or early April live via the LIVE Bald Eagle Cam. The eaglets grow quickly and are ready to fly “fledge” in late May or early June. Alcoa is proud that our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability is helping conserve our precious natural resources. LIVE Bald Eagle Cam link below!

Beautiful Wednesday- LIVE Bald Eagle Cam
It looks like a great day in the nest today. It might be a little windy this afternoon, but the temperature is supposed to get into the low 70′s. We are seeing all three heads up and interested in the first feeding of the day. There seems to be no shortage of food for this family with plenty of fish and a few other assorted creatures to round out the food pyramid.

We are back to a more normal temperature for this time of year today and the wind has picked up. The nest will be bouncing around some all day today. We saw one feeding earlier this morning with both parents helping and all three heads up asking for food.

Happy Family- LIVE Bald Eagle Cam
The final egg hatched on Saturday and during a feeding this morning at 7:45am CDT all three eaglets had their heads up and were all getting at least some food from both Liberty and Justice. It is a beautiful clear sky day here today with highs expected in the 70′s. Should be a good day in the nest.

Still Waiting- LIVE Bald Eagle Cam
There has been lots of feeding activity in the nest all day today. We continue waiting to see of the thrid egg will hatch. Today is the 35 day mark since the last egg was laid back on February 17th. It has been great to see both of the current eaglets active and feeding (and fighting) throughout the day. Interest in the nest is still very high. Today we passed the million “hit” mark for the week. It is wonderful to know so many people are watching and care about the LIVE Bald Eagle Cam.
